Appointments

Your first appointment will last about one hour; this may well go a lot more quickly than it sounds. It is an initial conversation designed to get to know you and talk over your problems. It is an opportunity for you and I to meet and decide whether CBT might be of help to you, and whether you wish to book further appointments. There is no obligation to book further visits at the time of your first appointment– although many people do.

Confidentiality

The personal information you share with me will be treated as strictly confidential. The only two exceptions to this would be:

a) If your case was discussed in a supervision session between my supervisor and myself – although your name will never be mentioned. A supervision session is a meeting where I discuss my work in order to ensure that you get the best possible care.

b) In a rare situation where I believe that you, or others, may be at risk of serious harm. I would then have a duty to inform your doctor.

Brief notes will be kept about you. You have the right to see what is written in these notes, or on computer. Please ask me if you would like to do so

Further appointments
Once you have decided to see me again for further appointments, the offer of a series of six sessions at times convenient for you will be made. However, this does not mean that you must book all your sessions in advance. For therapy to be effective it is essential to keep all appointments. If you do have to cancel one, please inform me as soon as possible. A charge will be incurred if you cancel less than 48 hours before your appointment.
